Collinsville schools earn High Marks in Illinois School Report Card

The Intelligencer Nov. 2, 2023

COLLLINSVILLE — A state summary of Illinois school district performance includes high marks for several schools in Collinsville Community Unit School District 10.

Monday, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released School Report Cards at www.illinoisreportcard.com. Each report card shows how schools are progressing on a wide range of educational goals.

One component of the School Report Card is the summative designation — a descriptor of how well a school is meeting the needs of all students. This designation is based on academics, student success, school culture and climate, financial investments, overall data for all of the
accountability indicators, and data for individual student groups.

This year, one Collinsville school is designated as Exemplary, eight schools are designated as Commendable, one is Targeted and one (Jefferson Elementary) does not meet the size requirement to receive a designation.

For a detailed description of the four ISBE designation categories, see Annual Summative Designations.

Here are some other notes about Collinsville schools' 2023 Illinois Report Cards:

● Webster Elementary School was designated as an Exemplary school. This indicates that the school’s overall performance is in the top 10 percent of all schools and has no underperforming student demographic groups.

● Collinsville High School, Dorris Intermediate School, Caseyville Elementary, Kreitner Elementary, Maryville Elementary, Renfro Elementary, Summit Elementary and Twin Echo Elementary were designated as Commendable schools. This indicates they have no underperforming student demographic groups and CHS has a high school graduation rate that exceeds 67 percent.

● Collinsville Middle School is designated for Targeted Support, which indicates they have one or more student demographic groups who are underperforming. ISBE has indicated CMS’ designation is based on the Children with Disabilities and Multiracial subgroups.

A targeted support designation initiates targeted school improvement status and the school begins a four-year cycle of school improvement. As a result of this designation, CMS qualifies for additional funding and support to address the needs of those students.

According to Collinsville school leaders, the community's school Exemplary and Commendable status reflects investments the district has made in instructional staff, social emotional supports, STEM, early intervention programs and Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) to better meet the academic and social emotional needs of our students.

Illinois Report Cards include metrics for Equity Journey Continuum. This is an informational tool to track progress toward closing gaps in student achievement, opportunities and support. Looking at these data points through the lens of equity makes it useful for improving outcomes
for all students.

Collinsville school District 10 administrators and staff, in partnership with the community, are continuing to focus on student
academic and social emotional growth, the district stated in a press release.
